Story
Toast grew cross-team delivery faster than the local tools around it. From the United States, information technology teams still had to serve customers and internal partners who expected a straight answer. Project and operations leads were the ones stitching the picture together by hand.
Rolling out Atlas put program management on Atlassian. Atlassian provides work management and DevOps software, including Jira and Confluence, used by software and business teams. Toast keeps the product in the path where work already happens, so project and operations leads do not context-switch into a graveyard system used only for audits.
The visible result is steadier program management. Cross-team delivery is easier to inspect, and adjacent groups can join project and operations leads without a guided tour of someone's desktop.
