Story

T-Mobile US grew cloud landing zones faster than the local tools around it. From the United States, communication services teams still had to serve customers and internal partners who expected a straight answer. Infrastructure and application teams were the ones stitching the picture together by hand.

Rolling out Red Hat OpenShift put platform operations on Red Hat. Red Hat, an IBM company, provides enterprise open source platforms, including RHEL, OpenShift, and Ansible, for hybrid cloud. T-Mobile US keeps the product in the path where work already happens, so infrastructure and application teams do not context-switch into a graveyard system used only for audits.

The visible result is steadier platform operations. Cloud landing zones is easier to inspect, and adjacent groups can join infrastructure and application teams without a guided tour of someone's desktop.
