Story
SKF grew infrastructure as code faster than the local tools around it. From Sweden, industrials teams still had to serve customers and internal partners who expected a straight answer. Platform engineers were the ones stitching the picture together by hand.
Rolling out GitLab Registry put environment provisioning on GitLab. GitLab is a DevSecOps platform that combines source control, CI/CD, security scanning, and planning in one application. SKF keeps the product in the path where work already happens, so platform engineers do not context-switch into a graveyard system used only for audits.
The visible result is steadier environment provisioning. Infrastructure as code is easier to inspect, and adjacent groups can join platform engineers without a guided tour of someone's desktop.
