Story

Suncor Energy did not need another dashboard that nobody opened. It needed environment provisioning to move. In Canada, platform engineers already knew where infrastructure as code went wrong: too many copies, too little ownership, and a close process that waited on the loudest inbox.

Boundary from HashiCorp is now in that path. HashiCorp (an IBM company) provides infrastructure automation software, including Terraform and Vault, for cloud provisioning and secrets. The company treats it as production tooling for environment provisioning, which is why platform engineers live in it rather than exporting from it once a quarter.

Suncor Energy can show how infrastructure as code is handled today. That is the value: a repeatable way to run environment provisioning on software the rest of the industry already recognizes.
